Dickinson Cruickshank is delighted to announce the appointment of 3 new partners within the organisation. Sean Dowling, John Melia and Toby Ward were welcomed into the firm’s partnership on the 1st February 2008. The new additions will create a partnership of 14, increasing the number to eleven based in their Head office in Douglas, creating a partner based in the London office as well as the 2 established resident partners based in Ramsey.
Sean Dowling joined the firm in 2003 and is Director of Dickinson Cruickshank Fiduciaries Limited. Sean has many years experience in the corporate and trust business and prior to joining the firm, he was Managing Director of Isle of Man licensed bank and trust company AIB. Sean qualified as an advocate in 2007 and brings to the partnership a wealth of experience in the corporate business sector.
John Melia returned to the Island in 2005 and joined Dickinson Cruickshank’s commercial department after having been a partner in the Hong Kong office of Richards Butler and Chief Representative of its Beijing office. Prior to this John practised in London with Baker & McKenzie and for Clifford Chance in the Middle East. John has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and joint ventures, and has acted in numerous initial public offerings and corporate restructurings.
Head of the London Office Toby Ward originally qualified and practised as an advocate on the Isle of Man with Dickinson Cruickshank before moving to London where he joined Allen & Overy as a Senior Associate. Toby worked for the firm for almost 5 years which included a period of 18 months based in their Amsterdam office. In 2004 Toby moved to State Street Bank & Trust Company, where he was UK senior legal counsel before re-joining Dickinson Cruickshank in 2006.
