Butler Snow LLP is pleased to welcome attorney Jennifer Svilar Tinker back to the firm's Memphis, Tennessee office, where she will rejoin the Commercial Litigation and Data Privacy & Security groups. Tinker returns to the firm after her time in the United States Court of Appeals 6th Circuit, where she served as a law clerk for her former Butler Snow colleague, the Honorable Judge Andre B. Mathis.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer back to the firm," said Christopher R. Maddux, chair of Butler Snow. "She brings with her a wealth of diversified expertise and her most recent role clerking for the United States Court of Appeals will serve her well as she returns to Butler Snow. We look forward to seeing Jennifer's successes over the coming years."

Tinker advises clients on a variety of data privacy issues, including drafting effective policies to ensure compliance with various state, federal, and international data privacy laws. Her experience includes assisting with multiple independent investigations and overseeing and counseling the City of Memphis as part of a federally appointed independent monitor responsible for ensuring compliance with the Kendrick Consent Decree.

Before joining Butler Snow, Tinker served as a Signals Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army. She was a Senior Intelligence Analyst, Target Analyst Reporter, and Deputy Division Chief at the National Security Agency (NSA) of over 40 joint-service military and civilian personnel. She also served as lead NSA representative on two deployments to overseas locations.

Tinker is a member of the Tennessee and Memphis Bar Associations, where she has previously served as co-chair of the Memphis Bar Association's Business Law Section. She has also studied in the University of Tennessee College of Law Wills Clinic and volunteered with the University's Law Expungement Clinic.

Tinker earned her bachelor's degree, with honors, from American Military University in Intelligence Studies. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She is admitted to practice in the Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee and the Sixth Circuit.
