January 22, 2023, marked the 50th anniversary of the landmarkRoe v. WadeSupreme Court ruling that guaranteed the federal constitutional right to abortion. It has been seven months since that decision was overturned.
In honor of this anniversary, members of our Post-DobbsTask Force are sharing what it means to them to be able to work on abortion rights issues.
"Without full control over their bodies, women cannot ever truly have equal rights. It is essential now more than ever to fight for that equality. I am proud to be part of the work to keep pushing it forward." - Isabel Farhi
"AfterDobbs, we must think creatively about how law can secure reproductive justice in the face of new regulations that threaten access and perpetuate sex inequality. The chance to contribute to these fights is why I became a lawyer." - Danny Li
"Jenner & Block's post-Dobbswork—be it corporate advising or pro bono advocacy—begins with our belief that reproductive rights are human rights. This values-driven approach to law reminds me why I'm so proud to be a Jenner attorney." - Andrew Plague
"Since the fall ofRoe v. Wade, it has been my honor to continue fighting to protect and expand access to abortion in our country. Until abortion is a safe and available option everywhere in America, I will not stop fighting." - Emily Mannheimer
"To me, defendingRoe v Wademeans combating forced birth, advocating for the basic principle that all persons are entitled to bodily autonomy, and helping ensure that no one enters parenthood from a place of despair." - Sati Harutyunyan
