The  Exemption from the Travel Ban (Extension to all Countries) Order which comes into effect today the 5th June 2020 specifies that yachts arriving in Malta with only crew on board, from countries outside Malta,  for the purposes of repairs, refuelling, servicing, flagging, Customs procedures and other ancillary necessities shall be allowed to berth in Malta.

This exemption is welcomed as a means to rekindle the yachting industry in Malta and allows it to re-start its activity just in time for the summer months.

It is expected that full pre-arrival notification and upon arrival requirements including any applicable quarantine requirements will shortly be communicated by the Port and Health Authorities.

In the meantime, clients, captains and operators are reminded to follow the currently applicable Port Health requirements arising from the Port Regulations which include:

  • Prior to arrival nomination of yacht agent to co-ordinate with Valletta Port Authorities  and Port Health Authorities to obtain the necessary port entry permits;
  • Yacht Captain to compile  and submit a Maritime Declaration of Health form 24 hours prior to the yachts arrival in Malta together with copies of crew Medical Certificates/ Reports;
