The protocol was signed on in December 2015 and will take effect on 1 January 2019, provided it is ratified by both countries before that date.

It is reported in the Ukrainian media that on 30 March 2016 Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers forwarded the protocol amending the double tax agreement between Ukraine and Cyprus to the Verkhovna Rada, the country’s parliament, for ratification. The protocol was signed on in December 2015 and will take effect on 1 January 2019, provided it is ratified by both countries before that date.
