The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) recently publicly expressed its intention to curb non-compliance with merger conditions and deter would-be offenders. To this end it has begun imposing fines on parties it views as having contravened merger conditions.

Furthermore, the CCPC rejected Western Union's application for approval of restrictive business arrangements with agents in Zambia, but granted conditional approval for Cargo Carriers Limited's proposed acquisition of 55% shareholding in Buks Haulage Limited.
