Tightening your Net: Cyber Security and Guernsey Business

Monday 20 April

Living and working on an island with our business and personal contacts increasingly likely to be spread across the globe means an ever-increasing reliance on technology for communication. The drive to go "paperless" means a similar reliance on technology to store our most valuable records. This seminar will explore some of the dangers associated with such reliance and how we may not only mitigate them but use our best practice as a USP badge-of-honour.

Our speakers will address both the legal obligations on Guernsey businesses and how practically one can minimise risk and protect our data and businesses from cyber threats. In modern business, laudible goals such as reaching clients in new jurisdictions, bringing online "fintech" workstreams into the business, creating accessibility for staff who need to work from home or whilst on business travel or providing instant data access to clients can open up firms to attack. It is imperative to the island as a whole that these risks are minimised whilst enabling our businessses to achieve these goals.

Paul Wilkes, Group Partner and head of Collas Crill's Commercial Team, will host a panel discussion and field audience questions to:

Wayne Atkinson - is a Group Partner in Collas Crill Guernsey. Wayne is a financial services regulation specialist who has advised on a range of local and international regulatory and compliance matters both contentious and non-contentious. Wayne regularly advises boards of Guernsey financial institutions on their legal and regulatory obligations.  Wayne trained at Herbert Smith qualifying into the firms funds and regulatory team.

Mike Loginov  - is the President and Founder of Ascot Barclay Cyber Security Group. He is an International Cyber Security Strategist and is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO). Mike has over 30 years' experience as a retained adviser and consultant to a number of large international organisations across the private and public sectors, including Vice Chairman for The National MBA in Cyber Security Global Advisory Board and former Chief Cyber Strategist for Hewlett Packard.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This seminar will be of interest to entrepreneurs, company directors, trust, fund and corporate service providers, and investors.

COST: £25
