Shipman & Goodwin LLP is proud to announce that partner Alyce L. Alfano has been nominated by Governor Ned Lamont to serve as a judge on the Connecticut Superior Court. Lamont nominated 11 men and 11 women as judges of the Superior Court on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
"Our court system works the best when it reflects the diversity, experience, and understanding of the people who live here," Governor Lamont said. "These men and women that I've selected to become judges not only have the competence, skills, and proficiency to serve the court with integrity, but come from a variety of backgrounds that provide them with the important shared experiences of the people who will come before them. These nominees have the qualifications that meet the high standards the residents of Connecticut deserve on the bench."
Alfano is a partner in Shipman's School Law practice group where she focuses on education law, particularly special education, representing boards of education throughout the state in student matters including special education, education policy, residency and disciplinary situations. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law.
"Although I will miss my colleagues and clients dearly," said Alfano, "I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve in this new role."
Alfano and her fellow nominees now await confirmation by the General Assembly.
