We are pleased to welcome Marie-Ève Martineau as a Counsel in our Montréal office in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. With more than 20 years of experience as a litigator, Marie-Ève brings exceptional advocacy skills and deep health sector knowledge to clients across Québec.
Marie-Ève advises clients on medical professional liability and health law and social services matters, and brings a deep understanding of Québec’s health institutions and the laws, regulations, directives and standards that govern health care in the province, including the roles and responsibilities of those who work within it. She has served as lead counsel at trial and on appeal, on dispute resolution options, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Much of her career has been spent acting for plaintiffs in health law and social services disputes, offering clients a broad, dual perspective on the challenges they face and the solutions available.
“Marie-Ève’s reputation for excellence and her command of Québec health law make her a terrific addition to our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, which is already the strongest in Canada,” said Tom Sutton, National Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group Leader. “Her nuanced expertise provides clients in the sector with a genuine advantage on their complex disputes.”
“I’m thrilled to join McCarthy Tétrault and work alongside such an outstanding team of litigators,” said Marie-Ève. “The Firm’s collaborative culture and its strength in Québec create an ideal environment to help clients navigate health law and social services challenges.”
Marie-Ève is a former instructor at the École du Barreau du Québec and a frequent speaker at conferences for the health, business and legal sectors.
