Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – August 29, 2026. Fabio J. Guzmán Ariza, President and Managing Partner of the law firm Guzmán Ariza, was elected Subdirector of the Academia Dominicana de la Lengua for the 2026–2029 term.
Guzmán Ariza will serve alongside Bruno Rosario Candelier, who was ratified as Director of the new board elected by the Academy's voting full members during a session held on August 29 at the institution's headquarters in Santo Domingo's Colonial City.
The new board, which will lead the Academy during the 2026–2029 term, is composed as follows:

- Carlos Salcedo Camacho, Treasurer
- Rita Evelin Díaz Blanco, Secretary

Guzmán Ariza's appointment to the Academy's leadership comes at a particularly significant time for the institution, which will celebrate the centenary of its founding on October 12, 1927, in 2027.
Among Fabio J. Guzmán Ariza's principal lexicographical works are the Diccionario del español dominicano, whose digital edition is periodically updated; the Diccionario fraseológico del español dominicano; and the Diccionario jurídico dominicano.
Guzmán Ariza has developed a career closely connected to the study and development of legal language in the Dominican Republic. His work at the intersection of law and the Spanish language includes his participation in initiatives related to legal terminology and the use of Spanish in the Dominican legal sphere.
His election as Subdirector of the Academia Dominicana de la Lengua represents a new responsibility within an institution that plays a fundamental role in the study and preservation of the Spanish language in the country, while coinciding with preparations for activities commemorating its first century of history.
