New York-based International Arbitration partner Mélida Hodgson was once again named to Latinvex's 2025 list of "Latin America's Top 100 Female Lawyers," which recognizes the top female lawyers specializing in Latin America among international law firms. The selection is based on a combination of factors, including recent track record on major deals and business.
Mélida is an investor-state and commercial arbitration practitioner and arbitrator, with three decades of experience practicing at the intersection of international arbitration and sovereign obligations. She represents clients operating worldwide across the range of arbitration fora, including the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), The Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), America Arbitration Association (AAA/ICDR), and under the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Mélida is particularly respected as an arbitration expert in Latin America—and is consistently rated as one of the top lawyers for the region—where she has handled matters for sovereign clients Venezuela, Panama, and Peru, and currently represents Ecuador, Panama, and Uruguay. Her areas of expertise are infrastructure, construction, mining, transportation, energy, and business combination disputes.
