Walkers has awarded its annual legal bursary awards to four
aspiring law professionals, including the Jonathan Betts legal
scholarship, now in its second year. The scholarship is named in
honour and memory of Jonathan Betts, former head of the corporate
department in Walkers' Bermuda office.
The 2025 Jonathan Betts legal scholarship, in the amount of
$30,000, has been awarded to Kennedy Wilks. Kennedy has completed
his second year at Queen Mary University and is looking forward to
having the opportunity to work alongside his fellow summer interns.
He is eager to continue to build lasting connections, collaborating
with peers and learning from others' perspectives.
McKenzie-Kohl Tuckett has been rewarded a 2025 Walkers legal scholarship in the amount of $30,000. McKenzie recently completed her Bachelor of Laws with Study Abroad from University of Bristol and will be commencing her Bar Vocational Studies in September at City St. George's University of London. She looks forward to the next month with Walkers and is particularly excited about spending five weeks learning from and working with practitioners in Walkers' litigation team.
Owen Neal, a recipient of the 2025 Walkers bursary, has just
completed his second year at the City Law School, University of
London. As a returning intern, Owen is grateful to again work
alongside esteemed lawyers and fellow Bermudian law students who
share a similar ambition to progress into law.
Oslo Adamson, also a recipient of the 2025 Walkers bursary, is a
second-year law student at Durham University. As a returning
intern, he is eager to develop his legal skill set and gain further
practical experience this summer at Walkers.
Owen and Oslo have been awarded $10,000 each towards their legal studies.
"This year's bursary recipients have shown their
commitment to their studies and desire to build careers in legal
field," shared Rachel Nightingale, partner and co-chair of the
firm's training committee. It's a pleasure to see their
continued growth and enthusiasm as they take these next
steps."
Nathalie West, partner and training committee
co-chair, stated: "Supporting the academic and professional
development of aspiring Bermudian lawyers is an important part of
our long-term commitment to the community. We're pleased to
always welcome aspiring professionals to Walkers and look forward
to the contributions they'll make during their time with
us."
