Appleby’s Bermuda office is pleased to award five education scholarships and bursaries in 2025
Appleby has been providing scholarships and bursaries since 1977 to qualified Bermudian applicants based on academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities. This year’s recipients are Kyla Lowe, Camya Matthew, Thomas Evans, Yahzahra Gilbert and Glenn Simmons.
APPLEBY LEGAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP:
The Appleby Legal Education Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for a Bermudian student studying law who plans to return to Bermuda to practice. This year’s Legal Education Scholarship (valued at $30,000) is awarded to Kyla Lowe.
- Kyla is pursuing an LPC at University of Law.
APPLEBY/BERKELEY INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP:
The Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship is an annual scholarship (with the possibility for renewal for a second year) for current graduating students of The Berkeley Institute. This year’s Appleby/Berkeley Institute Scholarship (valued at $20,000) is awarded to Camya Matthew.
- Camya is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Management with focus in Human Resources at Howard University.
APPLEBY LEGAL EDUCATION BURSARIES:
Appleby’s Legal Education Bursaries are annual bursaries for Bermudian students studying at university who have the intention to return to Bermuda. This year’s Education Bursaries (valued at $40,000 total) are awarded to Thomas Evans, Yahzahra Gilbert and Glenn Simmons.
- Thomas recently completed an LLB at University of Lancaster and will be commencing an LLM and the SQE at University of Law. Thomas is also a 2022 and 2023 Legal Education Bursary recipient;
- Yahzahra is completing an LLB at University of Buckingham;
- Glenn is completing an LLM and the SQE at BPP University Law School.
Our scholarship and bursary recipients also have the opportunity to apply for summer and winter internships to gain valuable work experience. Legal Education Scholarship recipient, Kyla Lowe and Legal Education Bursary recipient, Thomas Evans are 2025 summer interns, with Thomas having also interned in 2023.
