At Drew Eckl & Farnham, our summer associates are more than just future attorneys — they bring unique perspectives, talents, and energy that enrich our firm culture. This week, we're excited to introduce Kennedy Freeman, a standout law student who's passionate about community, growth, and maybe even a little competitive puzzle-solving. We sat down with Kennedy to learn more about her law school journey, goals for the summer, and a fun fact you probably didn't see coming.
What's been your favorite part of law school so
far?
"My favorite part of law school has been my experiences
with our BLSA Chapter. We are a family and I would not survive law
school without them."
Kennedy's deep appreciation for her law school community speaks
volumes about her values. Her strong support system and involvement
with BLSA reflect the importance she places on collaboration,
mentorship, and showing up for others — qualities we truly
admire.
Why did you choose to spend your summer at
DEF?
"I chose to spend my summer at DEF because of the people.
Everyone I've met is so nice and helpful. Additionally, I felt
that this would be the best place for me to learn and grow as a
young attorney."
We're honored Kennedy chose DEF as the place to continue her
professional development. Her desire to learn and grow in a
collaborative, supportive environment makes her a perfect fit for
our culture.
What's one thing you hope to learn or experience
this summer?
"I hope to experience a deposition. I've never seen
one in person, so I am looking forward to that."
We love her curiosity and eagerness to engage in real-world
litigation experiences. There's nothing like observing a
deposition up close, and we're excited to help Kennedy check
that off her list.
Are you more of a morning person or a night owl when it
comes to studying?
"For studying I am more of a night owl. For everything
else (gym, doctors' appointments, etc.) I am a morning
person."
The best of both worlds! Kennedy's balanced routine shows her
adaptability and discipline — essential traits for success in
both law school and legal practice.
What's one fun fact about you that we won't find
on your resume?
"I can solve a Rubik's cube in under a minute and a
half."
Now that's impressive! Whether it's solving
puzzles or diving into complex legal issues, Kennedy clearly brings
focus, strategy, and a bit of fun to everything she does.
Kennedy's mix of ambition, community-mindedness, and curiosity make her a valued part of our summer program. We're excited to support her as she gains hands-on experience, builds meaningful connections, and continues to sharpen her skills. We know this summer is just one stop on an incredible legal journey — and we're glad to be part of it.
Stay tuned as we continue spotlighting the bright minds shaping the future of Drew Eckl & Farnham!
