The London Technology and Life Sciences team advised Scalpel AI on its £3.8 million funding round led by Mercia Ventures, with participation from Tensor Ventures and private investors.

The investment will enable Scalpel AI to scale its global operations and roll out its technology with major players in the healthcare supply chain, including sterile services, hospitals, and prominent third-party logistics (3PL) services such as GlobalMed Logistix (GMLx).

Scalpel AI is an AI platform for the surgical supply chain, enhancing productivity and reducing errors in surgical workflows by automatically identifying and classifying surgical inventory without tags. It addresses the challenge of managing surgical equipment logistics in healthcare. The platform uses Vision AI to identify instruments without tags at each handover, ensuring readiness for surgery. This saves device companies millions annually by digitizing and automating workflows for safe and prompt patient treatment.

The deal team was led by Sophie McGrath, Ben Taylor, George Fagan, Harriet Worthington, and Emma McIntyre.
