The Citizenship and Family Law team in MWKA comprises dedicated and experienced lawyers that provide a wide range of services relating to adoption, citizenship, immigration, divorce and child custody, and tailors them to the needs of families and individuals.
Our team regularly advises individuals on their right to citizenship under the Federal Constitution. We have extensive experience in representing and providing legal advice to aggrieved parents and stateless children. Our able team succeeded in a landmark appeal at the Federal Court (see CCH & Anor v Pendaftar Besar Bagi Kelahiran dan Kematian, Malaysia [2022] 1 MLJ 71 below) and set the now-binding principle that stateless children who were born and abandoned in Malaysia are citizens by operation of law.
By handling precedent-setting citizenship and family matters in the courts, our team is well-equipped to navigate the intricacies and nuances of each matter with our clients. Having been recognised for the Matrimonial and Family Law Firm of the Year Award in 2021, we remain committed to providing cost-effective and efficient solutions to achieve the best outcome for our clients.
