The Government of India had contemplated setting up of 25 solar parks within a span of 5 years starting from 2014 – 2015, out of this 17 solar park projects have already been approved.

The Government of India had on December 12, 2014 launched a scheme for development of solar parks and ultra-mega solar power projects at various locations in India for facilitating and speeding up installation of grid connected solar power projects for electricity generation on a large scale.
