Colleen Laduzinski, a partner in Jones Day's Tax Practice who also serves as Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Boston Office, was elected as a Conferee to the National Bankruptcy Conference (NBC), one of the premier bankruptcy groups in the world.

Ms. Laduzinski is one of only two tax lawyers among NBC's 60 Conferees, and joins Jones Day's Heather Lennox, a partner in the Firm's Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice, who has been a Conferee since 2012 and is Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Cleveland Office.

Ms. Laduzinski's practice is focused on solving complex tax and structuring issues in bankruptcy cases, restructurings, distressed M&A transactions, financing transactions, liability management transactions, and debt and equity issuances and exchanges in capital markets and private equity transactions. She has acted as debtor's bankruptcy tax counsel in many chapter 11 cases, including Chrysler, Dana Corporation, Peabody Energy, and Westmoreland Resources. Ms. Laduzinski has led tax representations of creditor groups – including onshore and offshore funds – in significant debt workouts and restructurings, including syncreon group's cross-border restructuring. She has advised numerous clients on tax strategies to preserve and maximize net operating losses, minimize income from debt discharge, and tax-efficiently structure reorganized companies. Her significant publications include three Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Portfolios – Corporate BankruptcyCorporate Bankruptcy—Special Topics; and Tax Aspects of Restructuring Financially Troubled Businesses. She has served as Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Boston Office since 2019.

The NBC is a non-profit, non-partisan, self-supporting organization of lawyers, law professors and bankruptcy judges whose primary purpose is to advise Congress on the operation of bankruptcy and related laws and any proposed changes to those laws. Formed in the 1930s at the request of Congress to assist in the drafting of major Depression-era bankruptcy law amendments, the NBC has been a resource to Congress on every significant piece of bankruptcy legislation since that time. Membership in the NBC is by invitation only. Among its active members are leading bankruptcy scholars at major law schools, as well as current and former judges from eleven different judicial districts and practitioners from leading law firms throughout the country who have been involved in most of the major corporate reorganization cases of the last three decades.
