Appleby Bermuda acted for the UK's largest special motor insurer and Lloyds's underwriter ERS Insurance (now rebranded IQUW) in developing a significant presence in Bermuda including the establishment of a Class 3B reinsurer.

With a $350 million investment from existing investor Aquiline Capital Partners and Boston based private equity company Arby Partners, the platform's Bermuda presence is set to provide both IQUW's Lloyds Syndicates (which provide motor, property and specialty lines reinsurance) and third party insurers with access to retrocession and reinsurance capacity.

Appleby also advised on the formation of the IQUW ILS platform and Fund Structures which are aligned in market approach with both the Lloyd's Syndicate and Bermuda Carrier. The insurance-linked securities and fund offering will allow cedents access to risk transfer options while providing institutional investors the ability to deploy capital across a range of opportunities.

Bermuda Partner Brad Adderley led the transaction with support by Partner Matthew Ebbs-Brewer, Senior Associate Josephine Noddings, Associates Riley O'Brien and John Small and Trainee Arielle DeSilva.
