Arnold & Porter secured more than $35 million in damages for longtime client Boston Scientific Corporation (Boston Scientific) in a significant jury verdict win against Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (Edwards).
The complicated patent case involved multiple patents related to transcatheter heart valve technology, including one patent asserted by Boston Scientific against Edwards and three patents asserted by Edwards against Boston Scientific. After a 10-day trial in the District Court of Delaware, the jury found infringement on all patent claims Boston Scientific asserted and upheld the patent's validity, and simultaneously found that Boston Scientific did not infringe the patents Edwards asserted.
