Q1. How is the legal profession changing, and what challenges do legal teams face today?

Over the years, Unicase has built a substantial body of institutional knowledge, including contracts, legal opinions, court documents, internal methodologies and practical know-how. The main challenge today is therefore not a lack of knowledge, but the ability to locate, organise and apply it efficiently for the benefit of clients.

This makes knowledge management an important source of competitive advantage for a law firm. The continued development of the Unicase Knowledge Department is central to this work. It transforms the firm's accumulated expertise into clear internal standards, templates, methodologies and practical tools for legal teams.

Elvira Khairullina plays an important role in this area, bringing expertise in Legal English, legal writing, translation and knowledge systematisation.

Q2. What role does operational management play in a law firm?

Operational management creates an environment in which lawyers can deepen their expertise while also considering how their work and professional insights can be made more accessible and visible to the market.

Its purpose is to reduce unnecessary complexity, improve coordination and give lawyers the structure and support they need to focus on high-quality legal work and the development of client-facing products.

Q3. What qualities should a modern lawyer possess? Is there a particular "lawyer's mindset"?

A modern lawyer must be precise, resilient, attentive to detail and able to establish priorities quickly.

Strong lawyers tend to share a particular mindset: they question assumptions, verify information, identify weaknesses and assess risk. This may sometimes make them demanding colleagues, but it is exactly what clients need from their legal advisers.

Q4. What defines a successful team in the legal sector, and how can a firm build one?

A successful legal team turns technical expertise into clear and well-grounded solutions for clients, while building a reputation that is recognised across the market.

Achieving this requires discipline, leadership, effective communication, consistent internal standards and a strong sense of corporate citizenship.

Over the past 16 years, Unicase has established itself as a recognised training ground for legal talent. This is reflected in the firm's accreditations, rankings and awards. The next step is to communicate these strengths more clearly and reinforce the firm's position in the market.

Q5. How do you approach collaboration between different generations, particularly Generation Z?

Communication with Generation Z should be honest, clear and regular. Younger professionals want to understand the purpose behind their work, see opportunities for development within the firm and receive meaningful feedback.

At the same time, professional standards cannot be compromised. The consequences of an error in legal work can be significant, so respect and support must be accompanied by clear expectations and accountability.

For young lawyers, Unicase can offer more than employment. It can serve as a professional school where they develop their skills, learn from experienced practitioners and gradually build confidence and their own professional voice.

Q6. Which processes and approaches would you prioritise for further development at Unicase Central Asia?

Data protection and cybersecurity require particular attention. For a law firm, information security is fundamental to maintaining client trust, especially as the scale and financial impact of cyber incidents continue to increase.

According to IBM, the global average cost of a data breach reached approximately USD 4.44 million in 2025, while the average in the United States rose to USD 10.22 million. In addition, 72% of respondents to a World Economic Forum survey reported an increase in cyber risk over the preceding year.

Against this background, Unicase places considerable emphasis on selecting reliable advisers, implementing modern security solutions and strengthening its internal information-protection practices.

Q7. What would you like to say to the clients, partners and colleagues of Unicase Central Asia?

Joining Unicase Central Asia is both an honour and a significant responsibility. The firm has deep legal expertise, a strong professional culture and a well-established track record.

My role is to simplify business processes, strengthen internal communication, support and develop mentoring, reinforce the firm's employer brand and help lawyers become more visible in the market, not only through the quality of their project work but also through their public professional presence.

By improving the way we work together, we can make the team's day-to-day work more efficient, communicate Unicase's expertise more effectively and advance the firm's strategic objectives with greater consistency.
