As electricity demand surges and renewable energy sources become increasingly dominant, modern power grids face a growing challenge: how to move and manage electricity efficiently in a system that was largely designed for a different era. Hyperscale, a Swiss-based energy technology company, is addressing this challenge by reimagining one of the grid’s most fundamental components — the transformer. The company develops next-generation, modular solid-state transformers designed to improve grid efficiency, enable more flexible integration of renewable energy sources, and support the rapidly growing power demands of electrification and data-intensive infrastructure, aimed at delivering higher efficiency, faster control and greater grid resilience.
In its recent seed financing round, Hyperscale secured the backing of leading investors Vsquared Ventures and World Fund, two of Europe’s most prominent investors in transformative energy and deep tech solutions. The funding will support further technology development and the company’s ambitious efforts to expand its reach and scale across Europe.
Kellerhals Carrard Startup & VC Desk advised both lead investors, Vsquared Ventures and World Fund, providing legal counsel throughout the structuring and execution of the transaction with a team comprised of:
Umberto Milano, Lead (Partner, Corporate/VC)
Simon Gluch (Associate, Corporate/VC)
Arnault Eckert (Associate, Corporate/VC)
Kerim Tbaishat (Partner, Tax)
Céline Schmid (Counsel, Employment)
This transaction once again highlights the strong appeal of Swiss technology and innovation to international investors. Switzerland continues to combine world-class research, entrepreneurial talent and a thriving deep-tech ecosystem, creating companies capable of addressing global challenges and attracting leading venture capital from across Europe and beyond.
Massive congratulations to Vsquared Ventures (Thomas Oehl, Jakob Lingg), World Fund (Daria Saharova, Robin Neff, Toby Lovett), Hyperscale (Daniel Rothmund, Sami Pettersson, and all participants on the successful financing and look forward to witnessing Hyperscale's contribution to a resilient and sustainable energy future.
