National – September 12, 2025 – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is proud to announce that Nadia Effendi is the 2025 recipient of the Catzman Award for Professionalism and Civility, to be presented at the Ontario Opening of the Courts on September 25.
Nadia embodies the values at the heart of this award, demonstrating exemplary knowledge of the law, integrity, fairness, civility, generosity of time and a dedication to mentorship and the highest ideals of the legal profession. She is recognized for her deep expertise, principled advocacy and commitment to professionalism in every aspect of her practice.
Nadia is Chair of BLG's Appellate Advocacy and Public Law groups and National Business Leader of the Commercial Litigation group. For more than 20 years, Nadia has been trusted with some of the most high-profile and sensitive cases in the country. She represents a diverse roster of clients in both English and French in complex proceedings across Canada, including appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada.
Nadia has been a beacon of professionalism: calm under pressure, resolute in fairness and steadfast in civility. Her mentorship, inclusive advocacy and principled leadership reflect both her personal integrity and her belief in a just and respectful legal system.

The Catzman Award is presented annually by The Advocates' Society, the Chief Justices of Ontario and the Ontario Bar Association. It honours the late Justice Marvin A. Catzman of the Court of Appeal for Ontario and recognizes lawyers who reflect his legacy of professionalism.
