RICHMOND, Va. (March 12, 2024) – Holland & Knight has strengthened its nationally recognized Real Estate Capital Markets Group with the addition of Partner Sam Young in Richmond. Mr. Young is a transactional lawyer who advises clients engaging in commercial real estate and structured finance transactions across capital life cycles, asset classes and product types.

Mr. Young previously served as development counsel at Anchor Health Properties, a national, full-service healthcare real estate development, management and investment firm. Prior to that position, he was with the Real Estate Capital Markets Group at Thompson & Knight, which combined with Holland & Knight in 2021.

"We have seen a considerable amount of deal flow in light of the distress currently facing the commercial real estate industry. Sam's strong work ethic, solid understanding of the servicing world and experience working with members of our group will allow him to hit the ground running to assist our clients, many of whom Sam has previously worked with," said Mark Weibel, co-chair of Holland & Knight's Real Estate Capital Markets Group. "We are thrilled to welcome him back to the team."

The addition of Mr. Young follows Holland & Knight's recent recruitment of Real Estate Capital Markets Partners Cara Houck in Chicago and Chris Ezell in Miami.

Mr. Young represents public and private companies, financial institutions, private equity groups, high-net-worth individuals and master and special servicers in the commercial real estate, commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and structured finance markets at the highest levels of the industry.

"Having previously worked with the Real Estate Capital Markets Group during my time at Thompson & Knight, I have seen firsthand how well the group works together and observed its continuous growth," said Mr. Young. "I am eager to rejoin this industry-leading, experienced and high-energy team, and to leverage the firm's vast resources to help our clients continue to prudently navigate and execute their business objectives in the current environment."

Mr. Young received a J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.B.A. degree from Lipscomb University.
