In 2023, our Yellowknife and Kelowna offices have selflessly made two substantial donations to local community organizations. Our Yellowknife office proudly donated $15,000 to YWCA Northwest Territories' "Welcome Home" campaign, while the Kelowna office generously donated $50,000 to the BC Cancer Foundation to support the Systemic Therapy Suite. At Crowe MacKay, giving back is an important pillar of our daily operations. Investing in the communities we serve is just one of the ways our teams choose to do this, upholding our core values: We Share. We Care. We Invest. We Grow.

Affordable Housing for Those in Need

Established in 1966, the YWCA Northwest Territories (NWT) is the longest-serving charity in the NWT. The organization is dedicated to assisting women and families who've experienced violence, helping them transition to a more stable life in a supportive, caring environment. YWCA NWT also offers vital services such as affordable after-school care, youth empowerment programs, employment support programs, and is a shelter for victims of violence.

YWCA NWT released a "Welcome Home" fundraising campaign in response to the community needing more affordable family housing. The campaign aimed to raise $250,000 to furnish family apartments and shared program spaces. As long-standing friends of YWCA NWT, Crowe MacKay's Yellowknife office proudly donated $15,000 to the campaign in the hopes of helping the organization reach their goal. "Family housing initiatives contribute to the creation and maintenance of vibrant and healthy communities, serving as a catalyst for positive change", explains Jennifer Arnold, Crowe MacKay Yellowknife's Director of Operations. "The new Family Housing Building will offer families a fresh start by providing stable, affordable housing, fostering a supportive community environment."

Yellowknife's generous donation exemplifies their commitment to embodying our core values, demonstrating a high degree of care. The team understands the value of giving back and pledges to continue supporting community initiatives. Jennifer emphasizes the importance of supporting community not-for-profits, expressing that they "rely on donations and funding from the community to sustain their operations."

Empowering Access to Cutting-Edge Cancer Care

Crowe MacKay Kelowna's Support for the BC Cancer Foundation

Founded in 1935, the BC Cancer Foundation is the largest philanthropic funder of cancer research and care in the province of British Columbia (BC). The foundation raises funds for BC Cancer, which supports world-leading scientists and clinicians across the province in the hopes of giving British Columbians access to cutting-edge cancer care close to home. To meet the growing demand for cancer treatments in the BC Interior, the foundation has begun funding for their Systemic Therapy Suite.

Understanding the importance of having an accessible cancer treatment center within the local region, the Kelowna office donated $50,000 to the Systemic Therapy Suite. "The suite is essential to meeting the growing demand for cancer treatments in the Interior while also providing the infrastructure to bring early phase clinical trials to Kelowna for the first time," explains Dave Gautier, Crowe MacKay Kelowna's Office Managing Partner.

Our Kelowna office is committed to investing in their communities. The substantial contribution from the office to the BC Cancer Foundation's Systemic Therapy Suite will have a significant impact on individuals who may require access to critical therapies and treatments.

This therapy suite will help ensure patients have timely access to the latest life-saving treatments closer to home and establish Kelowna as a center for excellence in patient-focused care.

We applaud both our Yellowknife and Kelowna offices for their generous donations, making a lasting impact within the communities they live and serve.
