On November 28, 2017, Washington's Attorney General Bob
Ferguson announced a lawsuit against a transportation services
company for violating the state's data breach notification law.
The lawsuit stems from the company's announcement that it had
paid hackers $100,000 in late 2016 to destroy data on more than 57
million customers and drivers that had been stolen from the
company.
