On July 5, a federal judge
granted initial approval for a $7.4 million settlement deal
between a class of subscribers and a media company. The
complaint alleged that the company had violated the Michigan
Video Rental Privacy Act by disclosing subscribers' personal
data. The proposed settlement will net class members between $25
and $50 each.
