Schnader attorneys Barry S. Alexander and
Julie E. Randolph authored "U.S. Sanctions: A
Labyrinth of Mythic Proportions" for the August
edition of DRI's For the Defense. In the article,
which is focused on the often used foreign policy tool of economic
sanctions, the authors recommend that insurance companies who work
with entities operating in sanctioned countries educate themselves
as to the sanctions regimes that could apply to them and employ
counsel to analyze transactions on a case-by-case basis. The
authors note that the legal landscape governing sanctions is
constantly changing and insurers are typically provided with
limited guidance from the sanctioning bodies.
The content of this article is intended to provide a general
guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought
about your specific circumstances.
