A recently published medical journal article analyzed talc exposure in the development of mesothelioma. Using lung tissue samples from malignant mesothelioma patients, researchers measured the amount of talc fibers, talc levels, parietal pleural plaques, asbestosis, commercial and noncommercial amphiboles, and asbestos body counts. To gauge the significance of the measurements, they were compared against the levels established in 20 previously published controls. The researchers' conclusion was "that among patients with mesothelioma, the vast majority have talc levels indistinguishable from background." A summary of the article can be accessed here.
