New York State has proposed several regulations that would
require employers to pay premiums related to schedule changes that
occur without the requisite notice. The proposed regulations relate
to employees subject to the miscellaneous wage order (i.e., not
hospitality, building service or agriculture). The state
regulations impose rules and penalties similar to those in New York
City's Fair Workweek Act. The regulations' comment period
ended Jan. 22, 2018, so stay tuned for more information regarding
these regulations once they have been enacted.
