Today, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate change
(DECC) invited applications for licences in the 27th Seaward
Licensing Round. 2,800 blocks are being offered and the licences,
which will include traditional, promote and frontier will cover
areas including the Northern North Sea, Central North Sea, English
Channel and Morecombe Bay Areas.
Applications for licences will be accepted up to 2.00pm on the 1st
May 2012.
This offer follows on from the successful 26th Licensing Round in
2010, which resulted in the largest number of licences issued since
offshore licensing began in 1964. In all, 190 licences were issued
in the 26th Licensing Round.
