As has been widely publicised, the temporary halt to proceedings on evicting tenants in England is due to expire over the coming weekend and, until very recently, it looked as though that timeframe would remain.
However, there has been increasing pressure placed on Government to extend the stay of eviction action beyond the 23 August deadline as has been announced in Scotland (to March 2021).
The major questions that follow will be (A) will there be an extension in England (B) for how long and (C) how wide will the remit of the extension be - will commercial and agricultural properties still be caught?
We now watch this space as we await a formal Government announcement, although the BBC reports an extension to 20 September seems likely.
