Ben Kurten co-presented “Navigating the J-1 Two-Year Home Residency Waiver for Physicians,” a business immigration seminar offered by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Ben offered his insights in this live and on-demand CLE-eligible course designed for immigration lawyers dealing with foreign physicians and medical students. The course covers topics such as J-1 waiver prerequisites, the legal framework of licensing and credentialing for foreign-born medical grads and waiver-free alternatives such as O-1’s and H-1Bs for Canadians.

Ben is the chair of Reinhart’s Immigration Law Group and a shareholder in the firm’s Labor and Employment and International practices. He advises large multinational corporations, small private companies and individual investors on transferring international personnel, hiring foreign-born talent with hard-to-find skill sets and establishing new investment enterprises or branch operations. In addition to his client work, he is a member and former chapter chair of AILA, a national nonpartisan nonprofit organization for those who practice and teach immigration law, where he regularly speaks.
