Like many other countries around the globe, artificial intelligence ("AI"), and particularly generative artificial intelligence ("GenAI") like ChatGPT, has been a hot topic of discussion in Vietnam recently, because of its undeniable benefits and opportunities for humanity, including shaping new ways of living, studying, and working in the modern world. The Government of Vietnam considers AI technology and related products to be bold motivation for directing economic and social development in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and as breakthrough technology for Vietnam during the next ten years. The other side of the coin is that GenAI also creates many legal issues, which relate to its development and utility, that might be difficult to resolve due to the novelty of AI and the delay in updating applicable legal frameworks.
