A company and its director who were prosecuted over a worker's

Docks death costs company $330,000
A transport company was last week convicted and fined $330,000
following the death of an employee who was crushed by a falling
metal beam at West Melbourne's docks, pleading guilty to two
charges under the OHS Act (2004) of failing to provide a safe
workplace for people other than its employees, and that of its own
employees (25 June 2013).

ACT WorkSafe Commissioner Mark McCabe said the fact that only the

Dairy company fined after man hurt in cheese shredding
machine
A major dairy company was convicted and fined $35,000 following an
incident in which a worker had a finger severed in a cheese
shredding machine. The company pleaded guilty in Geelong
Magistrates' Court this week to failing to provide a safe
working environment by failing to provide plant that was safe and
without risks to health (21 June 2013).

A plan to make the state's sheep and beef cattle farms safer
has been launched by WorkCover NSW.

reminder
A new workplace road safety program will be launched in the second
part of this year by the National Road Transport Commission (NTC).
