Joyce McKinniss, a partner in Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice, has been named to Columbus Business First's "40 Under 40" list. Honorees are chosen for their outstanding career achievements and impressive community service in the Greater Columbus area.

Ms. McKinniss focuses on product liability lawsuits. She is part of the national coordinating counsel team representing R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in complex personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. Most prominently, Joyce has served as second-chair trial counsel in multiple high-stakes jury trials in federal and state court, resulting in favorable defense verdicts. Joyce has also developed significant experience with remote depositions over the past year, and she trained colleagues across the firm on "best practice" strategies and techniques.

Ms. McKinniss has been a member of Jones Day's Hiring Committee in Columbus since 2013 and was named the Pro Bono Partner for the office in 2019. Through her leadership, Jones Day lawyers in Columbus have offered free legal representation to individuals and organizations in both local and national communities. In addition, she is actively involved in the Firm's nationwide initiatives related to human trafficking.

In 2020, Ms. McKinniss joined the board of Freedom a la Cart, a Columbus nonprofit catering company that provides jobs and support services to survivors of human trafficking, and she has been actively involved in planning Freedom's future initiatives and board development.
