Firm Competing for 'Legal Team of the Year' Honors

NEW YORK, N.Y., Feb. 14, 2020 – Business Insurance magazine has selected national law firm Wilson Elser as one of five finalists for "Legal Team of the Year" in its 2020 U.S. Insurance Awards, the firm announced today.

Launched in 2019, the awards recognize excellence in the commercial insurance and risk management sector while also raising money to address the industry's talent crisis.

Finalists were selected by Business Insurance staff and a panel of risk managers will select winners in 14 categories to be announced at an awards event March 12 in New York City.

The U.S. Insurance Awards were created to address the industry's talent crisis by funding the BI Scholarship. This endowment will open new opportunities to provide scholarships, grants and programming at universities without risk management degree programs, including HBCUs. It is estimated that up to 400,000 insurance jobs will be unfilled in the near future as the current workforce ages.

"We are honored Wilson Elser has been chosen as a finalist for this prestigious honor," said Wilson Elser Chair Daniel J. McMahon. "This competition is not only a way to recognize professional accomplishments but to sustain the insurance industry through the BI Scholarship and support the next generation of insurance industry professionals."
