AMENDMENTS TO THE ACT ON PROTECTION OF STATE INTERESTS IN PRIVATISATION OF STRATEGIC STATE AND OTHER COMPANIES

The deputies of the National Council SR approved, after repeated discussion, amendments to the Act on protection of state interests in the privatisation of strategic state companies and stock share companies.

The amendments confirm the exclusion of Slovenska sporitevoa, a.s. (banking) and Slovenka poisovoa a.s. (insurance) from privatisation.

The opinion of the government, according to the vice premier and Minister of Finance Sergej Kozlik, is that a delay of the transfer date of privatisation of the financial institutions, in which the state holds an interest, to the year 2003 will decrease the chances of Slovakia becoming a member state of the OECD.
