Live Streaming Is a Vastly Under-Utilized Marketing Tool
Too many attorneys are still relying on Zoom or other online platforms to host and hold traditional (and old-school) talking-head style webinars or other online events. Most law firms are missing out on the power of live streaming — which can build attorneys’ credibility and reputation faster than traditional webinars or other online events, especially on LinkedIn, which has the largest business-to-business reach (1 billion users!) of any social media platform.
What Is LinkedIn Live?
LinkedIn Live is a feature that allows you to live stream (that is, broadcast live video) on your profile page, company page or as part of an event. You can invite people to register for the live stream or join when the video is live.
Stand Out With LinkedIn Live
Does your firm host live sessions where attorneys can showcase their expertise in a practice area, industry, case or legal issue — where presenters can interact with the audience and each other in real-time? Consider:
- A defense litigator hosting a livestream discussion of the latest court decisions in their state or circuit or even recent SCOTUS decisions.
- M&A, intellectual property and data privacy attorneys livestreaming about the latest trends and developments in their practice area, niche or industry.
The Marketing Benefits of LinkedIn Live
Live streams have greater reach and visibility than traditional, old-school posts and reposted videos. Here are a few more LinkedIn Live benefits to consider:
- Be different and be better. Since few attorneys are using live streaming to discuss hot topics and recent cases or to conduct educational sessions designed to inform or demonstrate expertise to key audiences, LinkedIn Live presents an opportunity to gain a competitive advantage.
- Save valuable nonbillable time — live streams should be only 30 minutes max, compared to longer webinars.
- Save money on expensive online and IRL events, seminars and webinars — and increase ROI.
- Increase reach, followers and connections. LinkedIn Live events can be viewed and shared by all of your law firm’s LinkedIn connections and your guest speakers’ LinkedIn connections. LinkedIn’s reach is much greater than any in-house email list.
- Spontaneous engagement. Your firm’s connections and followers can be invited to and immediately connect and engage with a LinkedIn Live event in real time (not just those who registered to attend a webinar on a webinar-hosting platform).
- Build connections faster. The get-to-know, like and trust process is accelerated on live streams.
- Maximize the value of content you already produce for events, webinars, speeches and seminars.
- Content goldmine. By live streaming, you are producing more content for repurposing.
Livestreaming isn’t easy, but LinkedIn has good instructions for getting started. You might also consider hiring a LinkedIn Growth expert.
Remember, the more ways your law firm can deliver and provide value, the more you will stay top-of-mind.
