As per the circular issued by Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Directorate General of Commerce requires that trademark owners accomplish the procedures regarding renewals of trademarks filed before the Omani Trademark Office within 60 (sixty) days as of the announcement of the mentioned circular, August 05, 2019.

In case the trademark owners having applications before the Omani Trademark Office do not comply with the issued circular in due time, those trademarks will be considered as cancelled pursuant to the section (19/3) from the Executive Regulations of the Trademark Act of the Cooperation Council for the Arab ‎States of the Gulf promulgated by the Royal Decree No. 33/2017.

Although the circular only talks about the trademark renewals kindly be informed that it covers any pending applications/registrations/renewals in Oman which is verbally mentioned by the Omani Trademark Office.

In that regard, we recommend our clients having trademark applications/registrations/renewals in Oman take necessary action(s) as soon as possible not to be affected from possible cancellations.
