On 2nd October 2017 Immigration Department issued a Public Notice that all work permit, student, Dependant, research and internship pass applications shall be obtained with a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from the country of habitual residence or country of origin (whichever applies), in addition to other statutory requirements.

After consultation with the stakeholders, the Department of Immigration has since shelved the above requirement until further notice. Consequently, a PCC or the equivalent foreign document, is not required for purposes of Work/Entry permit, Special Pass, Student Pass, Dependant Pass, Research and Internship Pass applications.
