On January 18, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism
published a decree (source document in
Spanish) modifying the type of databases that must be registered
with the National Registry of Databases (Registro Nacional de
Bases de Datos). Under the regulation, only databases
containing personal data processed by public entities, nonprofit
companies, or entities with greater than 100,000 tax value units
must be registered.
