According to one of the recent changes in the Kazakhstan
legislation on broadcasting, owners of foreign TV and radio
channels are required to register a representative office in
Kazakhstan to continue retransmitting their channels to the
territory of Kazakhstan as of 1 January 2017.
Publicly-owned foreign TV and radio companies (fully or
partially) will not be able to continue to distribute their
channels unless they establish a legal entity in Kazakhstan.
In view of the changes in the law, Dentons prepared a legal
review "Doing Business in Kazakhstan" for TV and radio
broadcasting companies. The review, in particular, contains answers
to frequently asked questions relating to the main stages of
establishment of the representative office, appointment of the head
of the representative office, appointment of staff, taxation
issues, and other questions of doing business in Kazakhstan through
a representative office. We will be happy to send this review to
all interested parties.
