On August 8, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
("METI") published Reference Materials to Consider Methods to Create
De-Identified Information (source document in Japanese). Given
the utilization of big data for the creation and promotion of new
services and industry, METI prepared the manual as guidance for the
industry to create De-Identified Information under the new rules
established under the amended Personal Information Protection
Act.
