Another amendment to the Polish Industrial Property Law will come into force on 15 April 2016. This comes in addition to the already significant changes that came into force in 2015.

  1. shift in the current trademark system away from an "examination" to an "objection" system,
  2. new rules for representation in proceedings before the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland by legal advisers or lawyers,
  3. how to obtain protection for a similar trademark with the written consent of the owner of a previously registered trademark,
  4. introduction of the so-called "novelty grace period",
  5. double protection for industrial designs,
  6. new procedural rules concerning handling international industrial designs, and
  7. reduction of the application fee under certain circumstances
