The County Court Jurisdiction Order 2014 and the High Court and County Court Jurisdiction (Amendment) Order 2014 also came into force on 22 April 2014, to coincide with the introduction of the single County Court. A key change is the increase of the threshold for money claims (apart from personal injury claims) in the County Court from GBP 25,000 to GBP 100,000 and equity claims from GBP 30,000 to GBP 350,000. Equity claims cover a wide range of cases, including the administration of the estate of a deceased person, the execution or declaration of a trust, and the foreclosure or redemption of a mortgage. The change is significant as the limit of GBP 30,000 had been in place since 1981.
