The New EU Procurement Directives were approved yesterday by the European Parliament. This milestone follows a two year wait, since the Commission's initial publication of legislative proposals overhauling the current EU public procurement rules.

The text of the new Procurement Directives, which includes new rules for concessions, will enter into force twenty days after they are published in the Official Journal of the European Union and there will be a two year period for implementation into national law. Pending publication however, the final wording of the new Directives is yet to be available and the wait continues.
