As readers of this blog know, the Federal Trade Commission pays a great deal of attention to "Made in USA" claims.  And with an FTC workshop on "Made in USA" coming up in a few weeks, you can expect to hear a lot more about these issues.

The FTC is going to be asking big questions in the workshop about its "all or virtually all" standard, including whether it's the right standard, whether the FTC's enforcement program is working, whether the FTC should issue more concrete guidance, and even whether the FTC should issue formal "Made in USA" rules.  (Separately, TINA.org also petitioned the FTC to start a "Made in USA" rulemaking.)

If you're interested in digging deeper into some of these issues in advance of the workshop, I was recently interviewed on AdAge's Marketer's Brief podcast, where we talk about these issues at length.  Since it's fall, we also touched on some marketing issues related to the back-to-school season as well.  I hope you'll check it out!
