Letitia "Tish" James was sworn in as the 67th Attorney General of New York State. Ms. James succeeds Acting Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood, who was appointed following the resignation of Eric Schneiderman.

Ms. James previously served as Public Advocate for New York City beginning in 2013. Prior to that, Ms. James was a representative for the 35th Council District in Brooklyn in the New York City Council. Ms. James also served as the head of the Brooklyn Regional Office of the New York State Attorney General's Office.

Ms. James is the first woman to be elected as Attorney General and the first minority woman to hold statewide office in New York.
