The SEC named Dr. Chyhe Kim Becker as Acting Chief Economist and Acting Director of the Division of Risk and Analysis ("DERA"). Dr. Becker will replace Dr. Jeffrey H. Harris, who left the position in order to return to academia on a full-time basis.

Dr. Becker first came to the SEC in 2008 as Assistant Chief Economist. She has led the DERA Office of Litigation Economics since 2015, and has received awards including the SEC Excellence in Leadership Award and the Investigative Achievement Award from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Prior to joining the SEC, she was a Principal at Chicago Partners LLC, and, before that, a Principal with the Economic Consulting group at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP. In the private sector, Dr. Becker's work was centered around securities litigation. She also taught corporation finance at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
